IVAX Corporation (AMEX:IVX) (LSE:IVX.L) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, IVAX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is distributing amoxicillin with clavulanate potassium, supplied and licensed by GlaxoSmithKline (LSE and NYSE:GSK). Amoxicillin with clavulnate potassium is an oral antibacterial combination used for the treatment of respiratory, urinary and skin infections; and is the generic equivalent of Augmentin(R), which is marketed by GlaxoSmithKline. U.S. sales for amoxicillin with clavulanate potassium were $1.4 billion for the twelve months ending September 30, 2003.
